    The Primary Education Department of Maharashtra has implemented various schemes for the overall development of students and to improve the quality of education. The details of some important schemes are as follows:

    1. Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan):
    2. This scheme is implemented to provide free and compulsory education to all children in the age group of 6 to 14. Under the scheme, infrastructure improvement of schools, training of teachers, and quality education are ensured.

    3. Action-oriented Learning Method Programme:
    4. The objective of this scheme is to enroll 100% girls in schools within the school catchment area and ensure 100% attendance. Under this scheme, prizes and certificates are given to teachers and extension officers who achieve excellent enrollment.

    5. Shelters:
    6. This scheme is implemented to bring children from remote and tribal areas into the stream of education. Under the scheme, students are provided with free accommodation, food, and educational facilities.

    7. Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV):
    8. This scheme is implemented to provide educational opportunities to girls from rural and backward areas. Under the scheme, residential schools are established and free education, accommodation and food facilities are provided to girls.
