Lek Ladki Yojana, launched by the Government of Maharashtra from 01 April 2023, is a scheme for the empowerment of girls after their birth. It has been launched by the Government of Maharashtra on 30 October 2023. The benefit of the scheme is given to families who fulfill the following conditions for the implementation of the said scheme.
Lek Ladki Yojana 2024: Under Lek Ladki Yojana 2024, a total financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh 1 thousand will be provided to girls in the state of Maharashtra from birth to the age of 18 years. This scheme has been launched for the education, health and overall development of girls.
Objectives of the scheme:
- To increase the birth rate of girls by encouraging the birth of girls.
- To promote girls’ education.
- To reduce the mortality rate of girls and prevent child marriage.
- To reduce malnutrition.
- To encourage the rate of out-of-school girls to be brought to 0 (zero).
Eligibility for the scheme:

Lek Ladki Yojana will be applicable to one or two girls born on or after April 1, 2023 in yellow and orange ration card holder families. Also, it will be applicable to the girl if there is a boy and a girl.

It will be mandatory for the mother/father to submit a family planning certificate while submitting the application for the third installment of the first child and the second installment of the second child.

Also, if twins are born during the second delivery, one girl or both girls will be admissible for the benefit of this scheme. However, after that, the mother/father will be required to undergo family planning surgery.

This scheme will be permissible for a girl / boy born before April 1, 2023 and a second girl or twin girls (separately) born after that. However, the mother / father will have to undergo family planning surgery.

The beneficiary’s family must be a resident of the state of Maharashtra.

The beneficiary’s bank account must be in the state of Maharashtra.

The annual income of the beneficiary family should not exceed Rs. 1 lakh.
Benefits of the scheme:
In yellow and orange ration card holder families, Rs. 5 thousand after the birth of the girl child, Rs. 6000 in class 1, Rs. 7000 in class 6,Rs. 8000 in class 11.After the beneficiary girl completes the age of 18 years, she will be given Rs. 75 thousand, a total amount of Rs. 1,01,000/-.

Birth Certificate of the beneficiary

Income Certificate of the head of the family (Annual income should not exceed 1 lakh.) Certificate from the Tehsildar / Competent Officer will be required in this regard.

Aadhar Card of the beneficiary (This condition will be relaxed during the first benefit)

Aadhar Card of the guardian

Photocopy of the first page of the bank passbook

Ration Card (Yellow or Orange Ration Card attested copy)

Voter Identity Card (Certificate of the name of the girl in the voter list after completing 18 years for the last benefit)

Certificate from the concerned school regarding the fact that she is studying for the benefit at the relevant stage (Bonafied)

Family Planning Surgery Certificate (As per the condition at number 2 in the conditions under “A”)

For the final benefit, it will be necessary that the girl is not married (Self-declaration of the beneficiary regarding being unmarried)
Beneficiary:
After the beneficiary girl completes the age of 18 years, she will be given Rs. 75000, a total amount of Rs. 1,01,000/-.
Benefits:
In yellow and orange ration card holder families, Rs. 5 thousand after the birth of the girl child, Rs.6000 in class 1,Rs. 7000 in class 6, Rs. 8000 in class 11
How To Apply
The responsibility of verifying the eligibility of the beneficiaries of the Lek Ladki Yojana scheme lies with the Anganwadi Worker, concerned Supervisor/Head Worker.
