    Give birth to pregnant women only in health institutions: Ayushi Singh

    In all the government hospitals of Gadchiroli district, on the 9th of every month, blood, urine, blood pressure, hemoglobin, ultrasound etc. tests of pregnant mothers are done by experts and medical advice is given accordingly. This facility should be availed by the pregnant mothers in the district and to reduce the maternal and child mortality rate.

    Ayushi Singh, Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad, has appealed to do the delivery in the health institution instead of at home.

    In the year 2024-25 (April to August), 5 thousand 353 deliveries have been performed in the health institution. So 57 deliveries have taken place at home. Also during the same period last year (April 23 to August 23) institutional deliveries were 5 thousand 916 while the number of home deliveries was 102. From 1 April 2022 to 21 March 2024, institutional deliveries were 15 thousand 756 and home deliveries were 301. Compared with the April to August figures, the institutional birth rate during the current half-year has increased and the health department has succeeded in reducing the number of home births by 50 percent. 52 Primary Health Centers, 33 Primary Health Teams, 12 Urban Health Temples, 2 Balasaheb Thackeray Apa Clinics, 376 Sub-centres, 3 Upazila Hospitals, 9 Rural Hospitals, 1 General Hospital and 1 Tertiary Hospital are operational under the Health Department. Janani Suraksha Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana through Health Department in the district.

    Under the Scheme, Maternity Subsidy Scheme and Manav Vikas Mission, subsidized labor subsidy to pregnant mothers and health check-up of pregnant mothers and children in the age group of 0 to 6 months is being implemented effectively. To increase the rate of institutional deliveries, the five-point program of pregnant mother tracking, control room, maternal meeting, maternity scheme, house visit is being implemented, said the District Health Officer Dr. Pratap Shinde has informed.
